  We are a military family and moved to the area in January. I have a child at Don Steede and couldn’t be happier with the teachers! My older child was enrolled at Hoke HS and the difference between the 2 schools was astounding. Within the first hour of my child’s first day his phone was stolen. He told the teacher, baseball coach, who was much more interested in what sport he played and said nothing about the stolen phone. The on campus office and the maintenance man where the only 2 people who spoke to me and really tried to help us. Very appreciative of these 2 gentlemen. I sat in the office for a full hour with a desk full of teachers/office workers who didn’t say a word to me. NOTHING! That was his first and only hour at Hoke Hs. Unfortunately I had to move him to live with his grandmother so he could go to a school and I wouldn’t be a nervous wreck during school hours. I don’t understand why the HS doesn’t look at what all the other schools in Hoke are doing right and then make changes accordingly. Something is really wrong there but I did hear they are building a new gym, so there’s at least that.
